Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir is a traditional mixed-choir that uses music to share God’s love with those around. We typically present music weekly at the 11am service, but on 5th Sundays we have the pleasure of presenting together with the Praise Band at both services. We also make special musical presentations for Christmas and Easter. This group is open to anyone interested. Music reading is not necessary.

Rehearsals: Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30pm in the Choir Room

Praise Band

The Mission of the First United Methodist Church Praise Team (or Church Street Band, as we are also known) is:

“To delight in worship for the pleasure it brings to God and to express praise for who God is and what He is doing in our lives”.

When the members of the praise band can become transparent and let the power of the Holy Spirit work through us to draw someone closer to God, then we are doing our job.

The Praise Band consists of 9 members at this time:

We also are blessed to have a gifted A/V Ministry who works with us each week to make sure that the congregation hears and sees what they need to have meaningful worship.

The Praise Team enjoys leading worship each Sunday morning at 8:30 am, but also gets the opportunity to occasionally minister outside of the church. We have played at a local festival, restaurants and for private parties. The music we enjoy bringing is a mixture of contemporary Christian, classic rock and blues.

We welcome input from the congregation and will try our best to work new songs into our lineup upon request.  It is also our desire to grow the Praise Team further with instruments, voice and technical expertise, so if you would like the opportunity to audition for the band please contact Rod Smith,  rod@fumcroysecity.org.

Chime Choir

The Chime Choir is the perfect place for people who want to be involved in music ministry, but do not feel comfortable singing in front of people. We ring praises together as a team and have fun doing it. We present music about every other month during the school year in worship, as well as for cantatas. While the ability to read music is necessary to chime, if you are interested in ringing but cannot read music contact JoAnne Pounds at joanne@fumcroysecity.org . Rehearsals will resume August 1st, Sundays 3:30pm in the Choir Room.

Children's Choir

Our Children’s Choir is an energetic group of Kindergarten-Fifth graders who love to make a joyful noise to God. The children play games, sing songs and learn about how much Jesus loves them.

The Children’s Choir sings each Sunday morning (during the school year), as a great start to their Sunday School experience at 9:45 a.m. in Crossroads Square.
